Are you striving to get it all the way together in 2025? Does this sound like you? You’re a career professional and a mom trying to keep your life together while balancing:
Family calendars packed with school events, sports practices, and birthday parties
Work deadlines and meetings
Anniversaries, special occasions, and social gatherings
Home chores, grocery lists, and never-ending to-dos
Medication expiration dates, appointments, and everything else life throws your way
If the mental load feels overwhelming, you’re not alone. Managing all the moving pieces can feel like a full-time job on top of your actual full-time job.
But here's the good news: you don’t have to do it alone or feel like you’re constantly falling behind. With the right strategies and tools, you can simplify your life, reclaim your time, and show up fully for what matters most.
Keep reading for practical tips to help you organize the chaos and take control of your life without sacrificing your sanity.
Understanding your capacity is crucial for developing coping mechanisms and setting boundaries before it's too late. I call this "measuring capacity before catastrophe"
As a multitasking mom, dedicated career professional, and loving wife, the challenges can be overwhelming. One of my favorite videos I have used in coaching calls and more is the " Glass Ball vs Rubber Ball" strategy. Here is a link to one of the videos that help me.
However, I've discovered effective strategies for managing these demands. Here's what I do:
1. Ask for Help: Admitting the need for assistance has been a game-changer for me. Embracing this vulnerability is a significant milestone.
2. Outsource Projects: Delegate tasks that can be outsourced, both in your personal and professional life. Stay tuned for an upcoming blog post where I'll delve into this further.
3. Practice Saying No: Saying no can be a challenge for many. Here are some statements that may help you politely decline commitments:
Unfortunately, I am already committed during that time. Perhaps another time.
I am unavailable at that time.
Thank you for the invitation. However, I am unable to accommodate it at this time.
Thank you for considering me, but I'm currently at capacity for this season/week to take on additional projects.
Stop Multitasking—Yes, You Heard Me Right!
Multitasking might feel like a superpower, but the truth is, it’s more like a kryptonite for your focus and productivity. Sure, there are activities you can manage simultaneously, like letting a crockpot meal simmer while catching up on your favorite show and folding laundry. But when it comes to tasks that require your full attention, splitting your focus can actually slow you down.
Here’s the thing: slowing down and giving your undivided attention to one task at a time isn’t just a productivity hack—it’s a brain booster. Focusing fully on one task reduces cognitive overload, helping you work more efficiently while staying calm and in control.
So, the next time you’re tempted to juggle a million things at once, pause and ask yourself: *What deserves my full attention right now? You’ll be surprised how much faster and better you can get things done when you embrace single-tasking.
Your brain—and your to-do list—will thank you.
By creating your own method of measuring capacity, you can possibly avoid burnout and enhance your well-being. I'd love to hear how it works for you!
Wishing you success on your journey to your best!
